COVID-19
Kia ora koutou katoa,
The Porirua Whanau Centre Early Childhood Centre is currently open and operating at Alert Level 1 restrictions.
We will provide regular updates and information as it is provided by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. It is also our intention to keep whanau updated, informed and provide numerous other activities that will assist with our childcare during this period.
Ngā mihi nui and stay safe
If your feeling unwell please stay home
The Porirua Whānau Centre’s top priority is the health and well-being of tamariki and staff attending our childcare. During Alert level 2 we will be following Public Health requirements to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as well as guidance from the Ministry of Education. This includes the following measures.
1- Contract tracing will be in place to record who is on site every day. This includes the Ministry of Health Covid-19 Tracing App. You do require data on your phone to use the QR Code however we will also have a manual form available.
2- Parents are asked to be vigilant about keeping any sick tamariki at home and staying home if they themselves are unwell. If a sick tamariki or parent/caregiver comes to the centre displaying any flu like symptoms they will be sent home.
3- Our indoor temperature will to be set at a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius
4- Tamariki require a lot of physical support and it is not possible to explain or maintain a physical distance between tamariki given their age and set up of our centre. This means good hygiene practices are even more important. There does not need to be a measurable physical distance between tamariki or tamariki and staff. However, adults should where practicable keep 1m distance between themselves and other adults at the centre.
5- Both Adults and tamariki will be encourage to regularly wash and dry their hands
6- Hand sanitiser will be readily available
7- All tamariki are to have their own food containers and will not be allowed to give or take food from each other.
8- Outdoor play areas can be used
9- We will be disinfecting, and cleaning all surfaces each day
If you have any questions you can contact the Centre directly on 04 237749 or email enquiry@poriruawhanau.org.nz
